CD Projekt RED has 410 people as of July this year, indicating that they have opted to fully commit to developing The Witcher 4.
Among the most highly anticipated upcoming RPG games, The Witcher 4 is definitely at the top of the RPG fans list, if not GTA VI. Now, the great news for the Witcher fans is that the game has finally entered full-scale production.
This update is all over the media now, and NoobFeed has published a comprehensive article on The Witcher 4’s latest developments. Also, during CD Projekt RED’s quarterly earnings, they mentioned that “all of our projects, this one is currently the most far along, and we are starting the most intensive phase of development.”
To be clearer, it’s about the new Witcher 4 game, not the remake of the first Witcher game, which is also in development. The Witcher 4, also known as Project Polaris, will be developed in Unreal Engine 5, and it’s definitely not the first entry in the new trilogy, which is also planned to be released over a six-year period.
While the rumors are emerging, Doug Cockle, Geralt’s voice actor, says that the game will feature Geralt, but it won’t be about him; instead, it will introduce a new protagonist. Now, Ciri would be an obvious choice, but we already get to play with her in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. So, it could be anyone, as the Witchers grow old very quickly.
CD Projekt RED has decided to go all in with The Witcher 4’s development. With 410 members back in July this year, the scale might definitely be higher now. There were rumors that many of these developers aren’t associated with the Witcher series and that the game might be affected by this, but CDRP closed off this rumor.
Of course, a lot is going on with The Witcher. In addition to the Witcher 1 Remake, a multiplayer Witcher game set in the Witcher universe is in development at CD Projekt RED-owned studio Molasses Flood. The future of the Witcher Series definitely sounds promising. With The Witcher 4 released, there will be a lot of games on the Witcher series over the following years.
