Nielubowicz acknowledged the studio’s decision to “not plan to release The Witcher 4 by the end of 2026”.
During last year’s The Witcher 4 reveal at The Game Awards 2024, a CGI teaser showed Ciri’s aging for the first time. There was no mention of a release date or even a rough window for when it would be available, so naturally, everyone was under the impression that it would be some time before they could get their hands on it.
Since then, there has been very little information regarding a possible release year. Many were holding out hope for 2026; however, CD Projekt Red’s CFO, Piotr Nielubowicz, utterly crushed their hopes. Nielubowicz acknowledged the studio’s decision to “not plan to release The Witcher 4 by the end of 2026“. This was announced during a recent presentation.
When asked whether 2027 was a potential release year for the game during the Q&A portion of the presentation, Nielubowicz provided a highly paraphrased response: “We will not make any announcement at this point about the precise launch date of the game”, Nielubowicz adds. All we can say now to make more investors aware is that the game will not be launched before the period of the first target for the incentive program, December 31, 2026″.

Even though 2026 is out of the question, The Witcher 4 could still be released later. CD Projekt Red recently stated that they took a lesson from Cyberpunk 2077 regarding the practice of revealing games several years before their releases, and Co-CEO Michał Nowakowski expressed his disapproval of the studio’s plan to market its next game for an entire year.
However, early 2027 is a reasonable prediction; nonetheless, game development is notoriously unpredictable. At least two more years will pass until The Witcher 4 is available for purchase, though.
