Xbox Ambassadors announces that they will switch to Twitch following Mixer’s shutdown.
Many viewers have wondered if they should give the streaming service a shot after the announcement of Mixer being shut down and Microsoft partnering with Facebook Gaming. As an extension of Facebook, this idea of streaming on the platform has been met with a large amount of distrust and skepticism. Even official Xbox groups, like the Xbox Ambassadors, have decided to switch on Twitch rather than the stream on its present partner platform.
Many were shocked at the sudden announcement of Mixer’s shutdown. It did boast more streamers than Facebook Gaming and YouTube Gaming combined. The guess now would be that any group associated with Xbox in an official capacity would make the move to Facebook Gaming as well. This seems to not be the case following a tweet from the Xbox Ambassadors.
Xbox Ambassadors is an Xbox group that is dedicated to fun, inclusivity, and safety within the Xbox community. Considering that the group is officially associated with Xbox and Microsoft, it’s rather odd that it would be moving to Facebook Gaming as well. Twitch isn’t exactly the most inclusive community considering part of Xbox Ambassadors’ mission is to spread inclusivity in gaming. There seems to illuminate a problem with Twitch not actively promoting its Black content and streamers creators. Twitch also aced major backlash following its BLM video that featured a cast of predominately white content creators. With a group like Xbox Ambassadors onboard, hopefully, this issue will slowly be fixed over time.
