The unexpected news was announced today. Mixer partners are being moved to Facebook Gaming and its shutting down. The closure is happening in next month. As of July 23, visitors to of mixer streams will be redirected to Facebook Gaming. The abrupt shuttering is because of streaming service. According to Xbox head Phil Spencher Mixer is failed to draw enough viewers to compete with youTube and Twitch
Ninja, Shroud and other top streamers now have an option to stream elsewhere. They are now free to rejoin on Facebook gaming or stream Twitch. Its still unclear when it will be realized though Microsoft has discussed such a system before. We still don’t any idea how and when xCloud will partnered with Facebook Gaming experience. According to reports, streamers who previously signed an exclusive contract with Mixer will be free to return to twitch if they wish. Mixer partner applications are now closed. Prospective streamers will have to go through Facebook’s Level Up creator program instead. With Embers and sparks, channel subscriptions and Mixer Pro will expire on 22nd July. Mixer site asked users to spend their remaining Sparks and Embers soon. Partnered Mixer streamers will get double payouts for any other revenue, donation, subscriptions earned this month. Benefits will go into Xbox store credit after the shutdown.
Mixer said that viewers with Mixer Pro subscriptions, outstanding ember balances and channel subscriptions will receive a Xbox gift card as a thank you for their engagement on the platform.
