The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition is now on next-gen consoles with Highly refined graphics and more.
This is a special time for fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. A month ago or so, this came as a huge surprise. Well, for a long time, there were speculations of this happening, but did not expect it to be here this soon. Had completely taken players by surprise. Players across the world are ecstatic.
This is indeed a very exciting time for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC owners. CD Projekt Red’s price just went up after they had announced it during the live stream in November. Ladies and gentlemen, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now available on next-gen consoles.
Seven years ago was the release of this fine specimen of a game, and it is still being talked about as if it had just been released. It was often viewed as one of the greatest role-playing games of all time and if you had played it yourself, you’d almost certainly agree with this. But the question is, can it be improved? Can you take this masterpiece and take to the next level? And how will the new version look?
This is something that the fans would definitely want; On top of that, they get the opportunity to rekindle their nostalgia by playing it again. It becomes even better playing the 2015’s Game of the Year winner with a new surgery.
Then fast forward four years later, and it was the introduction of the Netflix series initially starring Henry Cavill. Still, after two seasons, he was recently replaced by Liam Hemsworth for the third season onwards. By the way, in case you aren’t aware, the next-gen version has promised to contain extra items that were inspired by the show. This addition gives The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt an increasingly modernised presentation and also displays the developer’s connection with the show. This will make the fans much happier.
It gets even sweeter. If you already own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from the previous-gen version, you are guaranteed the next-gen version for free. That’s right, and this is one of the many notable benefits. However, if this is going to be your first time, then of course, you will have to pay for it, but there is an upside for you newbies. You are going to be pleased to know that the price is very reasonable. In fact, you probably won’t get it for any more than £14.99. That’s not too shabby for what you will be getting.
The fact that along with this massive update, there are changes and possible improvements that come with it. But some of you are probably wondering how much was made and how much of a difference this version is compared to the last one. The number is astronomical. But at the same time, CD Projekt Red has managed to keep the nostalgia, so the long-serving fans don’t lose their relationship with the game.
For those who had the previous-gen versions, you can start The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt again from scratch, or if you’d prefer to proceed from where you left off from the last time you played. The choice is really up to you. Either way, you will truly reap the benefits of the rejuvenating update. Also, you are getting more quests for you to embark on.
In Witcher 3, you are getting much smoother and more natural mechanics. That’s not to say it wasn’t great in the first place. It was, without a doubt, but this version plays much better and has nicer flowing movements. Because of this, you will get that greater sense of confidence to win combats against tougher enemies without losing so much health. Fighting the likes of monsters and animals has become more intense but enjoyable at the same time. The controls feel more playable, and can navigate between magic spells and weapons almost effortlessly.
The boss fights are still challenging which is a good thing, and they are less frustrating than before. Interacting with other characters has improved. Although, you still can’t engage with all of them, even though you are given the option of doing so. Fortunately, this isn’t something a simple patch won’t fix.
One of the notable changes you’ll see is the camera angle. It is different. Seems like they’ve zoomed in on Geralt and made him look larger. This new angle strangely gives the character a superior display. It is the same result even when you are mounted on horses. The performance of the models has been refined in every aspect. Even the NPC’s and enemies’ behaviours look better.
Speaking of performances, a host of graphical strengthening gives the visuals an incredibly attractive appeal for which you cannot help but stare in amazement. The models, objects, weapons, and the large open-world map has more that are easier on the eyes. Yes, this includes the cut scenes and you’ll find the notable augment to the designs and animations. By the way, you are now able to pause during cut scenes. The textures and terrains are even more stunning. Principally, Ray Tracing mode looks gorgeous on the Series X and many areas possess almost photorealistic effects.
If you do have the next-gen version, take some time to look at the ground and how much detail is added compared to before. The new looks of the grass, ponds, flowers, and so on are impressive. As well as the rivers/oceans. It’s the little things that actually make a huge difference to a game’s outlook. And if you are the type of player that focuses more on gameplay, then you are in for a treat with the new 60 fps functionality that takes your Witcher gaming to a whole new plateau, especially if you are playing on a 4K screen.
The next-gen version of Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the facelift that long-time fans and newcomers deserve. Again, it is remarkable how CD Projekt made a great game even greater. Furthermore, without tarnishing the legacy of one of the best role-playing games of all time. And for that, it is definitely worth revisiting and one would hope that The Witcher 4would at least get an announcement sometime soon.
This update is indeed a key factor for CD Projekt Red’s redemption after the disastrous release of Cyberpunk 2077. You remember, it was at a point when a huge number of players requested refunds and a lawsuit was issued. They had to pay an approximately $1.85 million settlement. All because the game had too many issues which made it almost unplayable.
Albeit, they had eventually implemented significant changes, you could say the damage was already done. But with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s next-gen update, they have done more than enough to get back in many of those fans’ good books and are back on the right track.
