Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was highly anticipated due to Shadow The Hedgehog’s appearance in it. It did not disappoint and left me extremely excited for Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) is what all Sonic fans wanted. It’s another great installment in a phenomenal video game movie series. With each Sonic the Hedgehog film, they have added new characters in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 introduced Knuckles and Tails. This time around, we got Shadow the Hedgehog. Everyone was begging the studios to bring in Shadow the Hedgehog, and we saw a sneak peek of him at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
The big question was who was going to voice Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024). One of the big names that everyone wanted was Keanu Reeves. Luckily, we ended up getting Keanu Reeves to voice Shadow the Hedgehog, and it was incredible. I couldn’t think of someone more perfect for the role after hearing his voice come out of Shadow the Hedgehog in the film. It felt like something I always wanted to see.
As a Shadow the Hedgehog fan since I was a kid, this was one of the best things I could’ve expected to see as a live-action version of the character. I played the old Shadow of the Hedgehog game on the PS2 Wayback Win, and ever since, I have been a bit of a massive Shadow the Hedgehog fan. I always felt we never got a great story of him beyond the video games.
The show Sonic X that I used to watch growing up had some decent representation of Shadow in there, and I enjoyed those episodes. But that was so long ago. It felt like we needed to see a new iteration of Shadow. Since the Sonic the Hedgehog films had been so well made, I was hoping that they would knock it out of the park with Shadow the Hedgehog, and they did.
There are rumors that there’s going to be a Shadow the Hedgehog TV show like they did with Knuckles, and I hope that happens. Keanu Reeves absolutely kills this role. Everyone seems to be enjoying Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024), which had a massive opening weekend. Along with the big opening weekend, they went ahead and announced that there would be another Sonic the Hedgehog film. It seems that there’s no stopping this new Sonic the Hedgehog universe.
Sonic the Hedgehog as a franchise is doing incredibly well right now; the brand-new Sonic X Shadow Generations game did very well to help hype up the movie. So we can say that Sonic the Hedgehog is having his time in the sun right now. I remember when I was a kid, and it was so hard to find Sonic the Hedgehog merchandise or anything on the video games in stores. But now, the films have garnered a brand new audience for Sonic the Hedgehog, and you can see toys and various other items at stores.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) also has another great performance by Jim Carrey as Doctor Eggman. This time, we get two Jim Carrey performances for the price of one. Jim Carrey plays two characters in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024). Since it appears that they’ve tried to keep his second role somewhat a secret online, I won’t say what his second role is.
Seeing him on screen as much as they did in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) was awesome, and it seems that they let Jim Carrey loose in this movie. It seemed that in the first film, he was very restricted in what he could do and say, but now it seems that he’s fully coming into the role and is having a blast playing Dr. Eggman.
Jim Carrey is one of the big selling points for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024), and this definitely is a really cool film to see as he doesn’t do much film anymore. So, even if you’re just a Jim Carrey fan, I think you’d still enjoy Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) along with the others as well. It does a great job of being fun for kids and adults. It is obviously geared more towards children, but adults can still have a great time watching it.
I think this is the perfect film to take your kid to see if they like Sonic or are looking for a film to watch. My generation will appreciate Jim Carrey, as we grew up with him in the 90s and early 2000s. The younger generation can appreciate Sonic the Hedgehog, as he is one of the biggest interests of kids nowadays.
As a fanboy of Sonic and Shadow the Hedgehog, I found the fan service in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) to be perfect. They did a good job of throwing some stuff in there for the fans, but not to the point where the average viewer doesn’t know what’s going on. There were a couple of callbacks to the original Shadow the Hedgehog video game, which got me so excited.
There were even parts of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) where the audience cheered and clapped. It was quite the viewing experience with a full crowd at the theater. I have to say, try to see this one with a packed house if you can in the theater or, at the very least, with a bunch of fellow fans of Sonic the Hedgehog.
What else can I say? Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) is perfect for the Sonic fan and good for the average fan. They’re doing such a great job of making these films watchable for anyone and everyone. Big fans and average fans are getting something out of these movies. Us Shadow fans can truly rejoice and feast on this film, as it is something truly incredible to see. So many video game adaptations fall flat because the characters we love end up becoming flat. But Keanu Reeves’s performance of A Shadow of the Hedgehog will live on, and I’m sure this won’t be the last we see of him.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) also does a great job of pacing, as it doesn’t drag at any point. The film is nearly two hours long, so this is an accomplishment. The only downside I can see in this movie is just wanting more. Especially Shadow the Hedgehog. They did show them enough, but I selfishly just want to see more.
They also did a great job in this film, not showing too much of the human characters. It can become kind of boring once we see him for too long, but this film does a good job of jumping back and forth. Of course, the best human character is Jim Carrey, as Dr. Eggman in the movie, and seeing him didn’t bother me at all.
I will say the human characters are still good and well-acted. They serve their purpose in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024), and I have no problems with seeing them in the others. They even built on a lot of the relationships that the human characters had with each other, which helps them not feel super flat.
A lot of these films where we are having humans interact with these kinds of otherworldly beings, like Sonic, can come off as kind of corny and weird. But they spend enough time setting up that and the first film to jump off and do what they want to do with the others. So here’s to more Shadow the Hedgehog, voiced by Keanu Reeves; my fingers are crossed for a TV series.
