House Flipper 2 features the improvements and upgrades that fans anticipated after playing the first game.
House Flipper 2 is a game developed and published by Frozen District. The same team worked on the first House Flipper game alongside the Tenants. Frozen District is a game development studio based in Krakow, Poland.
House Flipper 2 is a game that stays true to its predecessor, offering simple yet satisfying gameplay and ample creative expression. Compared to the first game, House Flipper 2 takes it a step further by introducing improved visuals, enhanced tools, and a new Sandbox mode. In this mode, players can construct their dream house from the ground up, prioritizing player creativity. In the sequel, house-flipping takes a little bit of a backseat as the focus is on fixing up and designing the house that players eventually flip.
House Flipper 2 is divided into two modes: Story mode and Sandbox mode. In Story mode, players start as aspiring renovators in the charming town of Pinnacove, connected through a realtor friend named Tom. They take on cleaning and renovation jobs to become successful house flippers while following a full-fledged narrative. On the other hand, the Sandbox mode allows those seeking more creative freedom beyond the story to design houses from scratch. It provides additional tools for nuanced construction, allowing players to construct and decorate a house of their design.
It wouldn’t be a House Flipper sequel without a few jobs to do on the side to help you build up money for the renovations of the houses you flip. Besides Pinnacove, the renovation journey extends to the seaside community of Crayfish Coast and the deep woods of Coralroot Forest. Initial tasks focus on cleaning and unpacking, progressing to activities like demolishing walls and redesigning interiors. Some of the Jobs come with optional stipulations from clients, enhancing flexibility. Completing tasks earns a star rating and cash, with higher ratings yielding more money for future house-flipping endeavours.
To unlock your creative potential, you can use a radial menu that provides a range of tools, from cleaning essentials to demolition instruments. You can browse through a virtual store that offers various materials such as wallpaper, furniture, and plants – all available for you to use to transform any room. The system helps you manage your tasks efficiently by keeping track of necessary paint, furniture placements, and remaining stains to clean. It guides you by specifying the furniture needed for a room, but it leaves the decorating decisions entirely up to you so that you can add your personal touch to the project.
A lot of similar tools return with improved mechanics in House Flipper 2, such as the Flipper tool, which in the first game you could only use to sell items, but now you can use it for duplicating and changing items along with selling them. The painting tool offers an upgraded paint roller for wider coverage. Unlike the first game, you can now have more control over the paint as you can section off the wall you’re going to paint and have more freedom with how you paint with the grid-like pattern that appears. Extensive use of the tools rewards Perk Points, which enhance and upgrade each tool.
Perks in House Flipper 2 can enhance your abilities, such as tiling larger areas of a wall, floor, or ceiling and cleaning up stains faster. It eliminates the monotony of picking up trash one by one and reduces the need to purchase more paint. Unlike the first game, you won’t have a mini-map, but you’ll have Flipper Sense, which highlights items that need cleaning, selling, or repainting during a renovation. The duration of this ability can be extended through upgrades in the perk menu.
One of the more interesting tools is the wiring tool. Unlike the first House Flipper game, where you can place your ceiling light and light switch, it would miraculously work. House Flipper 2 does it a little differently. While you generally won’t have to worry about it in your jobs, if you sell a ceiling or wall light or a light switch, you will need to reconnect the two together again. This is made easy by the wiring tool as it is only a mouse click, and they’re connected.
The Assembly Mode reintroduces an element that was excluded from the main House Flipper 2 game. In the first House Flipper, the installation of items like showers or sinks involved a slowly animated process of screwing and unscrewing various components as you installed them into their positions. Now, in House Flipper 2, you can effortlessly place these items in a room without needing a screwdriver.
While fans who are focused on the intricacies of the building might feel somewhat shortchanged, the option to engage in the same assembly process of items is still available, albeit tucked away in this mode. Here, you have the opportunity to install raw plugs and, in return, receive rewards such as store discounts that can make flipping a little easier.
The user interface is remarkably user-friendly, even when dealing with tasks like purchasing and arranging new furniture, down to the placement of individual items such as posters, carpets, cups, and plates. You can switch between grid placement and precise placement when moving furniture and decorations around, meaning you could essentially spend hours getting the decor just right before you sell it.
While the gameplay has improved compared to House Flipper 2’s predecessor, a lot can still be added to the game. The biggest difference was the fact that there weren’t as many furniture options. Even with the freedom to change up the material and colour of the furniture, it could get a little repetitive placing down the same furniture. While the first game had a few years to build up its impressive catalogue, it will be interesting to see what gets added to House Flipper 2 in the future.
The graphics of House Flipper 2 are a significant improvement from the first game. The furnishings and fixtures are sharp crisp, and appear more realistic, giving the game a more modern and vibrant look. Although there are occasional visual glitches, they do not detract from the overall gameplay experience.
Although the sound engineering in House Flipper 2 is great overall, it could be improved slightly in some aspects. The game’s soundtrack is not very prominent, and the music can become repetitive after a while. However, the sound effects are well-executed and contribute to an immersive gameplay experience. Additionally, the voice acting is done well and enhances the storyline that unfolds throughout the campaign.
Overall, House Flipper 2 offers an enjoyable and immersive experience for players who enjoy home renovation and design. With its improved visuals, enhanced tools, and new Sandbox mode, players can unleash their creativity and construct their dream house from the ground up. The addition of a full-fledged narrative in the Story mode adds depth to the game, while the optional stipulations from clients provide flexibility for players. House Flipper 2 is a great game for those looking to unwind and have some fun while flipping houses.
