Fantastical tales and folklore from around the world will inspire the player’s journey through these exquisitely detailed, hand-drawn realms. The game became available on the Nintendo Switch on January 25, 2024, Although it has been available on PC for some time.
As someone who played the first Hidden Through Time game and thoroughly adored it, I could say without a doubt that the second installment is an enhancement in virtually every regard over the first game. It took the basic concept of the game—that is, discovering objects—and placing it in various hand-drawn worlds based on myths, tales, and folklore, such as Greek mythology, Halloween, and many more.
With its charming graphics that instantly establish a lighthearted tone, Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic transports you on a whimsical adventure through time, where you can find hidden objects and make spectacular discoveries. You can play the game in one of three modes: campaign, architect, or online maps, where you can explore existing maps made by other players or contribute your own.
While the game’s premise is straightforward, the hidden item quests add a nice challenge to the experience. The careful positioning of elements adds another layer of complexity to the already challenging illustration. Finding what appears to be an obvious object can take a long time, and your success in finding all the hidden items determines the duration of each map.
A great deal of enhancements are also included in Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic. Adding a more obvious storyline to each of the four distinct campaigns is a major leap forward. You are more likely to get along with one another because of the community creation activity, which incorporates a social component. There is, however, one downside to the game.
While I didn’t disagree with the increased difficulty of the objectives in the later scenarios, I did find the sheer number of small objects to be a bit overwhelming compared to the first game. However, this is more than compensated for because the maps are far livelier and more interactive than the original. In addition to many plot points, there was a great deal of delicate storytelling, and I found myself laughing out loud at the numerous exotic references to various mediums.
Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic is a great, enjoyable experience for me, and it’s worth the money if you’re a fan of the Hidden Object genre. My initial reaction was skepticism regarding Rogueside’s ability to separate this game from the previous in a way that would warrant a sequel rather than merely being a DLC offering; nonetheless, they were successful in doing so. Despite its seeming simplicity, the game offers endless activities.
Although some exceptionally skilled community members have made fantastic maps available for download, I was able to complete the game in around half a day. Finding the hidden Easter eggs across the levels has been challenging but a great addition to the game. So, if you enjoy hidden object games or are just seeking a visually pleasing and creatively fulfilling intimate experience, Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic is a worthwhile adventure.
