Ghost of Yōtei: Sucker Punch’s bold new chapter targets 2025 release
Of course, it was natural for Sucker Punch Studios to have a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, considering how successful the game was upon its release in 2020. Since the game debuted, there have been rumors about sequel development during events announcing new games.
The new game, Ghost of Yōtei, was presented during the September 2024 State of Play event and was not what fans had hoped. The game will serve as a thematic sequel rather than a direct one.
Ghost of Yōtei will have a release date gameplay trailer during the second State of Play event this year, and it will be released in Q3 2025. Overall, players will be quite impressed with what has been displayed and will have confidence in Sucker Punch’s path.
The game is supposedly set in the same timeline as Ghost of Tsushima, and while there may be some subtle tie-ins that fans may recognize, it is an entirely new plot with new characters, with the main similarities being the Feudal Japan setting and the same concept of a “ghost” character.
We will also receive a dedicated state of play before its release. Ghost of Yōtei was released in September of last year, and the developers claimed they were targeting 2025.
