A New Era For The Last Of Us
According to an insider by the name of Tom Henderson, it has been revealed that The Last of Us PS5 Remake is said to be released in the “latter half of 2022.”Henderson stated on Twitter:
Henderson makes a very fair assumption later in the tweet, mentioning that if God of War was to be released early next year (Which, according to some information on GamesCreed, here, it should be released earlier). Then Sony would need something big to release instead.
With other big Sony titles such as Insomniacs Spider-Man 2 or Wolverine having just been announced in September of last year, it would be natural to assume that the next release could be a big and popular remake. Henderson states, “It could be a good compromise if GOW gets delayed to Q1 2023.”
This is ultimately no surprise. With the Last of Us HBO show releasing at some point this year, it would make sense that Sony would wish to garner as much hype as possible for this beloved franchise. Providing fans with a fresh new remake of one of the greatest games ever made will surely garner hype. Tom Henderson mentions as much, stating, “I think the overall goal here is to drum up the hype for the HBO show, so we’ll see what happens.”
The Last of Us HBO show is currently in production and does not have a release date. Every scrap of detail about it is being poured over by Last of Us mega-fans (Nick Offerman recently landed the role of Bill), which only adds to the faith of these rumors about another Last of Us Release heading to our shelves at some point later this year.
The next release from Naughty Dog is coming later this month, on the 28th of January, with the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection, a remake that allows players another chance to delve into the adventures of Nathan Drake and Chloe Frazer, releasing on the PS5 and later on PC.
The Death Stranding Directors Cut, coming in 2022, will join it on PC. You can check out our article about it here.
