Doom Eternal player discovers an error: an unrealistic amount of play time was recorded on their PlayStation 5.
A Doom Eternal player posted online that an enormous amount of game time exceeds an unrealistic 400,000 plus hours in a post online, pointing out an issue with the PlayStation 5’s date and time settings. The player posted the error online and had other fans clock and chime in with similar findings involving other games on the PlayStation 5 console with extremely high gameplay times.
Players dedicate tons of hours to the games they play, supplemented by statistics provided by game platforms to be used as references. Most players tend to be devoted to the time they spend in a game as it helps with tracking when they get started, both as an achievement and a bragging right.
Alongside achievements and bragging, this feature is quite important for more professional standards along the lines of competitions, esports, and record-setting players. It’s no surprise how gaming can cultivate hours of gameplay, with Doom Eternal mainly being the catalyst of focus to this issue on the PlayStation 5 console.
Subreddit user “kichigo08” posted on the PlayStation subreddit that the error from their console displayed roughly 53 years of total play time, making it quite impossible for any existing Doom Eternal player to achieve as it was released in March of 2020.
The poster didn’t disclose his original playtime in the post; however, it gained traction with more players leaving comments on their times affecting other games. Some suspect that the issue might have come from the Unix Epoch, a date and time system that has been tracking the number of seconds since January 1, 1970, as it would be easier to work with.
Hopefully, this can be fixed fast, as a loss of time can’t be the best thing for gamers devoted to both their games and professional player titles or records; records and titles aside, Doom Eternal is a smash hit.
