As you remember, Green Hell was released in 2019, initially on Microsoft Windows. Just over a year later, it also became available on Nintendo Switch. Fast-forward several months, and it is now available on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
This is great for those who have been waiting to play this game on the console. Now, if you are a person who is into survival and would love to learn about how to survive in a jungle, then look no further. Green Hell would seem very interesting as this game resembles a lot of the Far Cry franchise.
Green Hell takes place in the exotic Amazon rainforest, and many people would love to visit there. If you were to play this game, it would make you have second thoughts about going as Green Hell unveils the dark side of this renowned jungle. This game delivers countless actions and a brilliant story and enables you in having to use your critical thinking skills to craft objects, find food, and so on to stay alive while on an intense search for Jack Higgins’ missing wife. Not to mention getting acquainted with the jungle.
Green Hell is a survival game developed and published by Creepy Jar, also published by Forever Entertainment, which is only on Switch and became available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on the 9th of June, 2021. This was a little under two years after its initial date, which was on the 5th of September, 2019.
You can either go on this journey by yourself or do one better by going with a friend, as it is also available in multiplayer. This means much more enjoyment, and both you and your friend can stick to protect each other and survive in the jungle together.
The gameplay may not be as aesthetically pleasing as other relatable games, but this does not pose an issue to be concerned about when players are given so many options for survival. From creating forest fires to developing weapons to discovering various methods of rationing food, such as killing animals, the game truly offers glimpses of how it can be in real-life situations.
Let’s not forget the very handy walkie-talkie you are provided as a pivotal method of communicating, the highly dangerous machete you can use for cutting plants, branches, animals, and so on, and a trusted backpack you have to keep all of your gatherings from various locations. Plus, you are also able to use your watch, which can also act as a compass to help you find your way during the story.
Another cool feature is that there are different methods of creating first aid kits. One of my favorites is cutting leaves and using them as bandages for open cuts to prevent from getting infections.
The first-person mode is the perfect view for this game, as you can project yourself as Jack, and you might feel as if you’re the one trying to stay alive in the jungle. Strangely, rather than the fights with hunters, having many encounters with wild animals is probably the most challenging time in the game. Especially when trying to avoid attacks from quick Jaguars.
The story is genuinely phenomenal. Without going into too much detail, the plot is so interesting that it would motivate you to want your missing wife and rescue her. This would probably be the best storyline you will have witnessed in years. You would very likely agree with me on this, but the voice acting was fantastic, and the actors portraying the characters deserve much praise for delivering realistic emotions that is fair to say most of you guys can get in touch with personally.
The only very noticeable difference you’d see on the console version of the PC is, of course, the visuals. You’d realize much more accurate and more defined models in the game. The colors look more vibrant, the objects are more attractive, and the lighting gives many parts of the jungle photorealistic effects.
This is most definitely the case whenever it rains, and the ground, leaves, logs, and so on are wet, and raindrops are dripping on the objects above. You’d sense a considerable difference if you were to apply 4K resolution in the game. The Amazon rainforest is a vast map, so there are so many locations to explore, and essentially, there is a lot of excitement.
The audio was very endearing. The game picks up many sounds you would hear in an actual rainforest. Creepy Jar has taken a lot of time and effort in implementing the sound effects. You wouldn’t find many, if not any, negatives with the audio and voice acting. It is just amazing how fluid this game is. If you were to play this long enough, you’d think that this game has an endless list of methods for doing things, which is what is needed in more games, rather than a limited number of options available to players.
Ultimately, Green Hell is a game that delivers so many elements that have indeed made this a fantastic game for you and your friend to play. That’s not to say that there are only a handful of things that could have been improved to make this game more playable, such as the animation of the enemies and animals. You could use this game as preparation if, by some twist of fate, you happen to be in a similar situation.
I would strongly recommend you play this game with a friend as the experience is far much better, and it would be easier to solve and gather things than you would do if you were playing alone. Creepy Jar has done an exceptional job with Green Hell and, without a doubt, deserves a lot more recognition. If you are a fan of survival games, then this game is definitely worth the purchase.
