Originally slated for August, Mafia: Definitive Edition has been delayed to September 2020 due to coronavirus.
Mafia III the franchise’s latest entry became the fastest-selling 2K game when it released in 2016. Delving into the life of a soldier returning home from the Vietnam War as he embarks on a quest for revenge. Developer Hangar 13 and Publisher 2K said in a joint statement getting the game ready for release on its planned 28th August release date had become difficult due to the ongoing pandemic. It will now launch on 25th September 2020.
In late May 2020, The Mafia Trilogy released the Mafia II and Mafia III definitive editions. Though gamers eager to get their hands on Mafia: Definitive Edition have to wait a bit longer since it’s getting the full remake treatment, complete with new scripts, enhanced graphics, and updated engine. Mafia: Definitive Edition has been delayed from August to September 2020 revealed by the official Mafia: Trilogy Twitter page. The new official release date is September 25, 2020, almost a month later than the original release date of August 28. Rather than sacrifice quality by releasing the game on its original date, the companies feel the delay is necessary to remain true to the coveted experience. To placate fans in the meantime, a new 15-second teaser trailer was also tweeted.
Mafia: Definitive Edition features all-new gameplay sequences, an updated script, and comes complete with additional cutscenes. It’s a complete ground-up remake of the 2002 open-world mobster game built with the Mafia 3 engine. Enhanced versions of the second and third games, however, offer the full package of each game’s DLC and are currently available on Xbox One, PC and PS4. Fans will have the opportunity to receive “an extended look at Mafia: Definitive Edition’s gameplay on July 22.
