Season 8 is finally here; it wasn’t too long ago we received Season 7. However, there is nothing to complain about when Season 8 was even better. After watching the Mayhem gameplay trailer, I just couldn’t wait to play this. The feature I couldn’t wait for the most was the new Legend that would be available to us.
The Legend’s name is the Fuse, and when a legend is classed as a “bombastic explosive expert,” one would think that they would have the time of their life with this character. Let us not forget the other cool features that came with the new season, such as the latest battle pass and, of course, the redesigned Kings Canyon map.
Season 8 is the brand new DLC that was released on the 2nd of February 2021 and is available on platforms Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Also, you can play Apex on next-gen consoles, and I am now playing it on the PlayStation 5 version. There are noticeable differences in the PlayStation 5 version in terms of performance and visuals, which improves my Apex experience. I simply cannot get enough of Season 8, but it is most definitely more enjoyable than Season 7.
I bought the standard Season 8 Battle pass for the usual 950 Apex coins, and the stuff you get with it is better than last season. The player and weapon skins are far more attractive than the previous installment. The chained beast weapon skin for the flatline assault rifle is stunning—one of my favorites.
You’d have spikes at the front and chains surrounding the weapon, and with the red outlines and shiny gold textures, there is no way you’d not want to use this skin. What makes it sweeter is this is the very first skin you get right after purchasing the new Battle pass, so I didn’t have to grind out the game to equip this bad boy of a skin.
The same thing also applies to the Art of War skin for the new Legend Fuse, the Gate Keeper skin for Gibraltar, and the Boundless Envy skin for Loba. You get both of these legend skins as soon as you have purchased the pass, and I immediately equip them for the legends. Plus, the Apex pack, XP, and more cool things to unlock later would even make casual Apex players want to grind out the game.
The new Legend Fuse is the main reason why I was very excited about the new season. He has now become one of my favorite legends. Both of his abilities are not only incredibly awesome but also very useful. One of them is the knuckle clusters, which are needed for situations such as breaking enemy shields, and the other is a launcher that releases some kind of ring of fire that would benefit players if they are trying to kill multiple enemies, etc.
Another cool feature with this Legend is that when you choose to use one of the abilities, you can also shoot grenades, thermites, and arc stars from his right arm, but with more accuracy and precision. Not to mention, his helping hand finisher is arrogantly snazzy.
I am not a fan of sniper rifles in Apex, but the brand-new 3030 Repeater is simply a weapon I could not get enough of. However, the gun is wildly overpowered, and when it comes to firearms that are overpowered, they are great to use, but you would be enraged if you were on the receiving end.
Therefore, as much as the 3030 Repeater is excellent to use, it would be ideal to nerf the weapon. Depending on what level of shield the enemy is using and what parts of the body you are shooting, it would usually take anywhere ranging from a couple only to like 5 or 6 shots to finish your enemies. Plus, this weapon inflicts a lot of damage, so this would be a highly recommended weapon to use if you are going for damage count.
You are probably better off using a scope with this, but another great thing about this weapon is that you can treat it like a semi-auto rifle and simply use the iron sights, and you can also kill enemies effectively from close range. You would also need to consider finding a magazine that is level 3 or above, as you would have at least ten bullets per clip.
There are noticeable changes in the Kings Canyon map. Respawn has done a phenomenal job with the crash site area of the map. Previously, that area would have been challenging to have gunfights on, but with a modification to that section, it would be like some sort of a hazardous clean-up site.
The gunfights have become much more enjoyable as they have expanded that area. You would also realize that there are many other random buildings destroyed and are either replaced by bunkers, buildings, etc. Or have just been completely removed.
Ultimately, Season 8 is a remarkable installment to Apex Legends. Respawn has made so many improvements from last season; it makes this Battle Royale game far more enjoyable to any gamer. The high number of contents is very pleasing, and you would struggle to find even a few negatives from the new season.
The only criticism I have is the 3030 Repeater’s unreal strength. Although it is fun to use, it probably needs some nerfing. It is extremely overpowered and can lessen vitality, especially when more than a couple of players are using this weapon in one session.
