World of Warcraft Plunderstorm Evidence suggests some mechanics, abilities, and features could have been very different in the new Battle Royale game mode.
Fans of the hit game, World of Warcraft, have discovered new evidence of unused spells, mechanics, and other features that were relics of previous versions of Plunderstorm. These features were also left on the cutting room floor, however, they also suggest World of Warcraft early game players would have had a very different type of Battle Royale than the current clash they received.
Plunderstorm is a new Battle Royale game mode in World of Warcraft where players will compete in solo or teams of three to loot Plunderstorm and earn special cosmetic rewards for both the modern and classic World of Warcraft. After fans have dropped into the battlefield, they have to scour the battlefield for spells and tomes in order to arm themselves against their rivals to be the last ones standing in battle to win.
However, players have come across some unused spells, items, and mechanics that shows the mode was almost completely different to the one players have access to now. According to some files found by “Wowhead,” the game mode almost had a more WoW traditional theme, with items being inspired by iconic classes and the infamous Goblins and Gnomes of the game world.
These fans found almost a dozen unused spells including some class-specific spells and several consumables along with gameplay elements that never made the cut in the game. The game’s lead engineer, Orlando Salvatore, who did a lot of the work on the Battle Royale game mode, commented on these old abilities on their respective Twitter, providing proof of these claims’ legitimacy.
Other evidence suggests that some mechanics were also removed from Plunderstorm as well, including various passive abilities and talents, which seems to have suggested that players would have been able to customize their characters’ offensive and defensive abilities along with weapons that may have allowed characters to change their basic attacks as well.
Either way, the game mode could have been completely different, however the developers thought it best to not include the cut items and spells and would rather have the game as it is now. In the end, gamers still flock to the game and enjoy it for all it has to offer but just think how it would have been should those cut items have been included.
