Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet had to turn off all comments and ratings on YouTube. Take what you hear with a grain of salt.
Sadly, the new Naughty Dog game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, has been faced with some backlash online after the release of its first trailer. All of this is just because of the main character in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet being female and having a shaved head. Beyond that, people might just not like the theme of it being space due to Concord leaving such a sour taste in their mouths. That is the only valid complaint I can see, which is that the space games market is very saturated for some.
But besides that, it seems most of it is just because of the lead being a female with a bald head in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. To me, that seems like a cool nod to Alien 3 with Sigourney Weaver having a shaved head in that film. Also, I am a massive punk rock fan, and it seems that this character’s shaved head probably has an awesome backstory about her rebellion in some way, shape, or form.
This just goes to show that people will complain about literally anything in a game trailer. People are offended that this girl has no hair and isn’t overly sexualized. There are plenty of games out there that have overly sexual themes with their female characters. People got mad when The Last of Us Part II came out because Abby was a buff, muscular woman.
Those same people will complain but will probably end up playing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet because of its hype. The games Naughty Dog made always exceeded expectations when they came out. They always end up winning plenty of game awards and also sell incredibly well.
I am extremely excited about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet coming from Naughty Dog. Not only is it a brand-new IP from Naughty Dog that we haven’t seen in forever, but it also has an incredible cast. But I’m particularly excited about Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross doing the music in it, as they are some of my favorite composers in the film genre. We are seeing an awesome crossover where great film composers are starting to do video game soundtracks as well.
So take this news about a main character having a shaved head with a grain of salt. Normal people don’t think that is a dealbreaker when it comes to a main character in a video game. I, for one, think the shaved head looks cool on her and very punk rock. So, hopefully, people can get over their selves online and complain about something else that is more important.
