The world of cinema and games has lost another star. Known for its heavy work as the voice actor of Max Payne, McCaffrey has passed away. His close friend Kevin Dillon, who is also an actor, announced the news of his death via an Instagram post, It initially caused a misunderstanding as he did not mention which friend until he officially reported it to the news outlets.
James McCaffrey started his career during the 90s with shows such as Viper and had a guest appearance during various American TV shows. Although he was prominent in the world of television, what made him very famous was his role in Max Payne and Max Payne 2. He was seen as the best-fitting voice actor for Max by both Remedy Entertainment and Rockstar Games. During the development of Max Payne 3, Rockstar Games wanted to opt for a new voice actor but they were hit via backlash by both fans and Remedy, then James McCaffrey was brought back as the voice actor of Max Payne once again.

The saddening passing of one of the most crucial people of the late 90s does bring pain, and it is very sad to see him go before the release of upcoming Max Payne remakes. It is not certain whether James McCaffrey did work on the remake’s voice acting. If he was chosen for the voice acting position once again, it means Remedy has to change their plans and look for another suitable voice actor for the upcoming remakes of the classic action franchise.
