Mindlessly fragging while chilling out? Valorant has finally got you covered with the upcoming Team Deathmatch game mode.
Riot finally answered players’ feedback by announcing the addition of a team deathmatch mode in this month’s upcoming update to Valorant. While Valorant might look like a fairly ordinary first-person shooting game, it employs great team-oriented gameplay and tactics around your weapons and characters. It is reminiscent of the ever-so-popular Counter-Strike, but Valorant focuses on the characters’ abilities rather than gunplay.
Meanwhile, Counter-Strike includes a team deathmatch mode for warmups or casual fragging, Valorant only had Search and Destroy mode for itself for quite some time. Valorant’s team deathmatch mode will play a bit differently than what we used to. As the name suggests, it is going to be another team-based mode, however, the objectives are just to eliminate the opposing team.
Each team will consist of five players, making it a 5v5 match. Riot will add three brand new maps to Valorant alongside the new game mode. The mode will focus on these maps first, and the objective will be to get a certain number of kills in a given time. The first team to reach 100 kills in a stage wins the match.
Team Deathmatch will also replace the spectator camera. Players can now respawn while playing team deathmatch, making it a very high-paced rush to reach the kill count. Respawn timers can be as short as 1.5 seconds, so it’s better to stay alert all the time.
Team Deathmatch will have stages on the map, and they will be based on the player’s weapons. The first stage will only allow handguns, the second will allow SMGs, and so forth. Players will spawn with ready weapons, fully stacked with health and ammo. It is possible to spawn with weapons you do not like, however, there is nothing to worry about as you can change the weapon of your desire if you happen to pick up weapon drops around certain places on the map.
Characters with special moves will still alter and affect the gameplay. Fortunately, Riot has thought of that and brought a cooldown on character abilities, so they are not often abused as in the regular search-and-destroy match. Players can partake in the new team deathmatch mode on the 27th of this month, which is expected to be packed with the upcoming 7.0.0 patch for Valorant.
