We could see a lot of Tobey Maguire in the next Doctor Strange film!
There are leaks that suggest Tobey Maguire is going to star in Doctor Strange 3 and, more importantly, be one of the film’s co-stars. This means Tobey will have considerable screen time in the movie. This excites me because Sam Raimi’s Spiderman trilogy, while not the most accurate depiction of Spiderman, is still my favorite.
This leak sounds exactly like what we heard about Tobey Maguire’s appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Unfortunately, that did not turn out to be true, but it could be that the information was misinterpreted to be for the upcoming Doctor Strange film when the writers could have already been planning the third film.
The leak also states that Sam Raimi is coming back to direct Doctor Strange 3 and that a lot of it will take place in his Spider-Man universe. This happens to be Earth 838, and the film’s end seems to tie into Avengers: Secret Wars or Incursion Wars.
If this is true, it could be huge. It would be a pleasure to see the original cast of Sam Raimi’s Spiderman come together once again, and the possibility of this movie leading to the next Avengers film. We already know if Doctor Strange is involved, but we are messing around with timelines and the multiverse.
It is still too early to spoil Deadpool & Wolverine, but even that movie shows something that could be related to the next Avengers film. Oh yeah, it’s all coming together now. Although this leak should be taken with a grain of salt, bringing Spiderman into the picture could be costly for Marvel Studios.
Because of Sony’s stubbornness to let Marvel own the Spiderman franchise, the film would need to be co-produced by Sony, which means a significant portion of the merchandise income would go to Sony. It remains to be seen whether Marvel is willing to go through with that. There is a chance it happens, considering the crazy crossovers Marvel has done in the past. I still look back fondly at the returning characters of all the Spiderman universes in Spiderman: No Way Home.
The leak’s sources are a podcast episode and a report from The Disinsider, both of which have been wiped from the internet, though you can see their archives if you look for them. Now, it’s a 50/50 question whether this wipe is a good thing or not, as they could have been asked for those reports to be taken down because the leaks were accurate, or maybe the reports were taken down because they were all bogus.
There is a lot to be excited about and much to speculate on from this point forward. We can only know if this is true by waiting for an official announcement or another major leak from reliable sources.
