The creator behind the original Fallout games is helping with the development of The Outer Worlds 2.
When The Outer Worlds was first released back in 2019, many players couldn’t help but notice the similarities between it and the Fallout series. This was most likely due to the involvement of Tim Cain, the creator of the Fallout game series. Tim has confirmed that he is working on The Outer Worlds 2 and has recently shared some of the feedback he gave on many of the game’s mechanics as it continues development.
As mentioned earlier, Tim Cain played an important role in the development of The Outer Worlds and serves as that game’s director and because of his past experience with the Fallout franchise, it rubbed off on the new title. However, after the game’s launch, Cain entered semi-retirement and would shift his focus to his YouTube channel and his solo projects. That didn’t last very long as Obsidian Entertainment has once again brought Tim Cain back to help the development of The Outer Worlds 2.
Tim was recently interviewed by Rock Paper Shotgun, in which he shares some information about the role he plays in the development of The Outer Worlds 2. As stated by Tim Cain, he gives the development team design feedback on things such as level design, lore and even on some of the game’s more comedic events.
“There’s stuff they’re trying to do in the sequel that, of course, I can’t talk about, that I get pulled in on because it’s similar to stuff I’ve done in the past. Sometimes it’s just me saying, ‘I’m not gonna tell you what to do, but here are the pitfalls. Here are some of the huge, huge chasms that lie in your way that you’re gonna have to wend around.'” said the Fallout creator.
There definitely seems to be quite a lot in store for players of The Outer Worlds, as well as fans of the original Fallout games. Sadly, there is still no release date for The Outer Worlds 2, but with every new thing we learn about the game, the more excited we get to finally experience it.
