According to a new job listing, the next Horizon Game could be skipping the PS5.
Every time a new Horizon Game is released, it always pushes the boundaries in terms of visuals and performance. Horizon: Forbidden West was an absolute visual gem and many fans have been dying to know when the next game will be. Thanks to a new job listing, it would a appear that the Horizon MMORPG could be skipping the PlayStation 5 entirely. The job listing cites that the game will be for PC and mobile platforms only.
The series is arguably one of Sony’s most iconic modern games to date, sitting alongside the likes of God of War. The first game, Horizon: Zero Dawn, was a massive success and sold well over 24 million copies worldwide on PC and PlayStation.
This same level of success would follow its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, which as of April 2023, has sold over 8 million copies, most likely due to its DLC, Burning Shores. Now, with an elusive third game in the works, fans are understandably excited. The Horizon MMORPG is a part of Sony’s efforts into the live-service gaming genre and will be our next adventure with Aloy.
The new job listing was first noticed by video games researcher, Kurakasis, who compiled all the job listings and information regarding the new upcoming MMORPG. This list provided us with a ton of information for instance – The game is being developed by South-Korea based studio, NCSoft. According to the job listing, “Project Skyline” the codename for the game, is going to be an Open-world experience developed in Unreal Engine 5 and is being made for both PC and mobile platforms.
Kurakasis notes that there seems to be no plans for a PS5 version of the game. However, due to the project most likely still being early in development, a PS5 version could be coming in the future along with the remaster.
