Recent leaks suggest that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake release could be imminent.
Fans have always demanded to play an actual Oblivion remake, and they’ve actually gone and developed one themselves. There was also a rumor about an Oblivion Remake at the end of 2024. A group of modders has been developing an Oblivion fan remake called Skyblivion, which remakes the game with Skyrim’s engine, with the game scheduled to come out sometime later this year. But if rumors are anything to believe, there’s also going to be an official Oblivion remake coming out in 2025 as well.
It appears that news about The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake could be on the way in the very near future. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is arguably one of the best open-world RPGs ever created and has been so since it was first released on PC and Xbox 360 back in 2006. It’s been nearly 20 years since then, and as such, fans have been clamoring for a remake or remaster on current platforms.
Recent leaker NateTheHate just responded to a question on Twitter about the state of the oft-rumored Oblivion remake. At their understanding, an update to the Oblivion remake is to come sometime “this month” or “next month,” with the game itself seeing release “earlier than originally planned June launch.” The leaker did state, however, that they were still “still working to get details” regarding that point. Assuming that NateTheHate is right, it appears that Elder Scrolls players will be able to play the Oblivion remake sometime in the next few months.
If The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake is coming out before June, then we wonder when precisely it will come out. April 2025 is already looking to be a busy month for Xbox, with big titles like South of Midnight and the day one Xbox Game Pass release Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 both on the docket, while May 2025 will feature the much-hyped Doom: The Dark Ages.

Then, with a big Xbox presentation expected to take place in June, one would think that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake would be ideal for a shadow drop, but it seems that may not be the case if it’s released earlier than expected. Of course, it’s always possible this is incorrect information, and as such, fans should reserve any rumors regarding the Oblivion remake until Xbox itself says it’s in production.
Rumors about The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake have been going around for several years now. The latest information is that the remake is in development with upcoming other Unreal Engine 5 games and will be released by Virtuos on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Thankfully, more concrete information about the project will be coming out sooner rather than later.
