Cloud’s quest to save the world closed out a solid State of Play.
After an underwhelming PlayStation Showcase in May 2023 where the biggest draw of the event was Spider-Man 2, this September’s State of Play came to make amends. While the sequel to Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ narrative adventure will most likely exceed expectations, as it’s Insomniac Games who we’re talking about, many gamers felt let down by the prospect of any future games for this Winter season and beyond.
The State of Play was previously announced to be updates of previously revealed games most likely to temper expectations, and they delivered just that in spades. Helldivers 2 got a new gameplay reveal and release date, Spider-Man 2 gave an in-depth look at traversal, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth closed out the show with a new look at the places and adventures Cloud and friends will experience. With that said, here is the full list of all the upcoming games for PlayStation 5 announced at today’s State of Play:

- Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord – October 26, 2023

There is still the question lingering of when will PlayStation reveal what most of its first-party studios like Naughty Dog or Santa Monica Studio are working on now. Thankfully, with the healthy output of third-party support, it seems like Sony is still buying some time until they unveil their next heavy hitters.
