S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl’s development team says they had worse, and a fire will not stop them from advancing further with their game.
The upcoming eastern-Europe-themed action RPG game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chernobyl having a hard time being developed these days. It was stated through a Czech news outlet that there was a devastating fire at GSC World’s offices in Prague. The fire caused heavy damage to the offices and was thought to be caused by an electrical failure in the building.
The existence of the fire in the building was later confirmed by one of the developers through GSC World’s Discord server. They stated there were 30 developers inside the building and fortunately, none of them were injured during the incident. Fire engines later arrived after the emergency services called and the fire was put out. Although most of the building stayed intact, one of the floors, which we assume is the one that had the electrical failure, is completely unusable and needs a restoration.
Although some might think this is a deliberate attack on GSC World to sabotage and show hatred for their work, this incident was caused by a faulty line inside the building. So, seems like they were very unlucky to be hit by a fire during their rough timeline of work. The fire caused about 65 thousand dollars of damage and employees and developers at GSC World now have to resort to remote work from home. As for the dedicated servers for info or saved-up hardware of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chernobyl, GSC World did not state anything.
The team has been struggling since the war between Russia and Ukraine. Since the developers are from Ukraine, they had to move their entire headquarters to the Czech Republic. War itself is causing them enough stress, and the recent loss of one of their colleagues at war made the development cycle and morale of the crew even worse. Still, GSC World is expected to release S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chernobyl by this December. We shall wait and see if these unfortunate events will delay the release date.
