The sci-fi looter-shooter Space Punks gets new end-game endless dungeons and a reworked main gameplay loop.
As the Space Punks Open Beta launches on April 20, leading Polish developer Flying Wild Hog has revealed what the game’s galaxy of scoundrels and misfits can look forward to.
Players in Flying Wild Hog’s Cracow Studio’s top-down ARPG Space Punks blast their way to fame and wealth by earning cheap money via hazardous means in an irreverent sci-fi environment. This Open Beta version for “The Cracked One” allows players of all skill levels to get their hands on a new “Get-A-Job” feature meant for rapid play and a smoother crafting system that gives them access to tools of greater mayhem sooner in their spacefaring careers.
With “the Crack,” developers will officially unveil Space Punk’s much-anticipated post-game features. “The Crack” is a Black Hole featuring an infinite dungeon mode that allows players to leap between dimensions and explore the unknown. A player may choose between two types of dimensions: Common, in which they must defeat a certain number of foes before proceeding, and Milestone, where they must locate and kill the area monster to continue playing. The update will also include a slew of critical bug fixes and enhancements that will be in place long after the Open Beta begins.
Cracow Studio Head for Flying Wild Hog and Space Punks Game Director Micha Kuk said: “The launch of the Space Punks Open Beta is another huge step for us in the ongoing development of the game, and we’re excited to talk about everything new we’re adding for players both old and new to enjoy. The introduction of “the Crack” adds the first stage of an endgame content that our Early Access community has been clamouring for. Combined with the revisions to the primary gameplay loop, “The Cracked One” update represents the completion of the central “core” of Space Punks. We still have a huge amount we’re looking to add to the game throughout the Open Beta and beyond, so watch this Space!”
“In a press release, we couldn’t be happier to partner with Flying Wild Hog to bring more people into the wacky cosmos they’ve created,” said Phil Mansell, CEO of Jagex. “What Jagex is trying to achieve with its “Living Games” idea is reflected in the work of Flying Wild Hog and Space Punks, and we look forward to working with them throughout the Open Beta period and beyond.”
The “The Cracked One” Update is the fifth significant update since Space Punks’ Early Access launch on July 14, 2021. Space Punks will become free-to-play with the Open Beta launch, allowing a more substantial number of would-be space scavengers than ever to join in on the fun. Founders Packs are available in the Epic Games Store for those who want to show their support for the game’s development while also looking sharp.
