Sony said no more to the ‘Resume Activity’ feature for PlayStation 5.
A PlayStation 5 feature that was removed following the PlayStation System Update last month. Sony appears to have deleted the ‘Resume Activity’ feature on purpose, as we’ve noticed lately. After the most recent update, the ability to go ahead to a certain point in a game was removed, and the wording on activity cards was changed from ‘Resume Activity’ to ‘Play Game’.
With the removal of resume activity, we’re now limited to starting games from the main menu. Although Sony has not made any official statements regarding the withdrawal, rumors suggest that low usage was the reason behind its removal.
I’ve used the ‘Resume Activity’ feature every time I played Cyberpunk 2077, God of War Ragnarök, Elden Ring, or similar games. In my opinion, this is one of those heavily used features that has now been removed, which can leave some users like me feeling let down.
This is an additional feature, similar to the Accolades feature that Sony removed because it wasn’t used. To be honest, is it really a disappointment if other users aren’t using it? This is to say if the vast majority of users or even a small fraction of users or developers aren’t.
According to some developers, having such a feature available as an option is pointless if only a small fraction of the gamers will really use it. Developers have to spend more time and energy developing scripts that support these features because it adds another step. So we can’t blame Sony for removing it from PlayStation 5, but it would be nice to have a similar feature back to continue the gameplay from the point we last quit a game.
