PlayStation Portable 3 (PSP3) could at long last be finding its way to the portable market.
The PlayStation 6 release window and the PSP3 seem more likely at this point. Sony’s support for a PSP3 seems to be growing, and this might lead to its release in 2027 with the PlayStation 6. According to Kepler L2, since the PlayStation 6 will ship two years after the PS5 did, this timeline will become more apparent later this year whenever Sony manufactures the first processor for the PS6.
According to recent statements made by Jess Gordon, a portable game console with the Xbox name will be released later this year. In essence, Xbox’s in-house handheld will be fine-tuned to this portable device. According to previous speculations, the next generation of Xbox consoles may debut in 2026.
According to Jess Gordon, Microsoft will not debut in 2026, even though it would be great if everyone launched their goods at the same time. He claims that in 2027, Microsoft will release its next-gen console, which is more like a PC and may have access to other marketplaces.
Along with it, they want to launch their internal handheld in 2027. This seems to be an approach similar to what they accomplished with the previous generation, except that the Xbox Series S is the portable in this design.

Sony’s return to the PSP3 portable handheld, my only guess is that Sony will hold off on releasing their version until Microsoft releases an Xbox Series S-like version of several of their titles. In the same vein as the PlayStation Portable, they could prioritize PlayStation 4 titles initially and update PlayStation 5 titles later on. Alternatively, they could postpone the release until 2027 to ensure a larger selection of PlayStation 5 games are available on launch day.
According to rumors, Sony is reportedly developing two separate processors. One of these chips may end up in the PlayStation Portable 3, which would imply it would use a stripped-down version of the same chip found in the PlayStation 6. If even a small fraction of this data is accurate, then the future of PlayStation is bright for enthusiasts of all ages.
