One Activision executive isn’t so happy and has taken to Twitter to take jabs at Sony for delaying merger talks.
It would appear that a certain Activision executive isn’t happy about Sony and has, once again, taken to Twitter to take jabs at the company. They also revealed a comment made by the company’s CEO Jim Ryan regarding Call of Duty.
Jim Ryan seems to have landed himself in a bit of hot water as his comments came across as incredibly stubborn, especially with the lack of any additional context. This has added more fuel to the fire as Microsoft struggles to finalize the merger deal.
The merger between Activision and Microsoft has been rocky, to say the least, with Sony’s attempts to block the deal not making it any easier. Due to this and other company theatrics such as pulling out an unsigned agreement during a press briefing in Brussels.
As for the Twitter debacle, Activision Executive VP of Corporate Affairs Lulu Cheng Meservy responded to reports. She then went on to reveal a rather interesting comment made by Sony Interactive CEO Jim Ryan during a closed-door meeting with the EU’s European Commission. She then asks why they were so reluctant to go through with the deal. She then claims, during a closed-door meeting on 21 February 2023, that Jim Ryan said “I don’t want a new Call of Duty deal. I just want to block your merger.”
As for Lulu Cheng Meservy herself, she has upset quite a few Twitter-goers in the past, especially about her comments on unions forming within Activision Blizzard. Sony has also not been seen in the best of light besides the comments made about the merger, many gamers online have heard about Sony’s reluctance to expand the Call of Duty brand onto other platforms.
If what is being said by Jim Ryan is true then it is likely that Sony truly does intend on stopping the Microsoft and Activision Merger. It seems that its going to be a while until we see the resolution of this issue.
