Not only is Death Stranding 2 rated again, but Sony has also confirmed that Ghost of Yōtei will be published this year.
As the new fiscal year approaches, Sony is optimistic that the company’s already record-breaking Christmas sales of PS5 might see even greater growth. During the financial presentation, Sony reaffirmed the release schedules of its biggest first-party projects, Ghost of Yōtei and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
Last year, Sony made the somewhat misread statement that it was not planning any big exclusives for 2024. Basically, they meant that even though they released the highly praised Astro Bot, they lacked a title comparable to Spider-Man 2 or God of War Ragnarök.
Sony does think highly of the Sucker Punch and Kojima Productions sequels. Nonetheless, they anticipate a landmark year for PS5 with the announcement of several significant third-party games. As for the following fiscal year, from April 2025 to March 2026, both first-party and third-party Sony anticipate the release of excellent games, so they have great expectations for the success of that year, according to Hiroki Tatoki, who was speaking to investors.

Since these two games were conspicuously missing from the PlayStation February 2025 State of Play, many have speculated that they may be more behind schedule or maybe delayed than anticipated. I believe it is important to bring this to everyone’s attention. However, the presentation for Death Stranding 2 is happening, and there is still a lot of time to learn about Ghost of Yōtei.
However, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a strong indicator that a release date is imminent. The game was rated in Brazil following the recent Korean rating, giving us a total of two ratings. Apparently, that release date will be revealed during the Death Stranding 2 panel on March 9th.
