The open world Pirate-sim Skull and Bones finally has a gameplay trailer and a release date to go along with it.
Skull and Bones… Ubisoft’s often delayed and ambitious title that seeks to capture the same magic that ensnared us in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag in 2013 is coming this year. Launching November 8th of this year, the game that has had eluded players for so long has finally arrived much to the joy (and dismay) of fans.
This was not all, Ubisoft held a long gameplay reveal which included a cinematic trailer, a trailer showing off customisation options and the lastly… The gameplay:
The reveal showed off much, from ship to ship combat. To the games narrative all neatly woven with a nice (if a little unsettling) voiceover. Players have been cautiously awaiting this gameplay reveal and we now know so much. In terms of setting, Skull and Bones is set in the Indian ocean in the golden age of piracy. Starting with little to no prospects following a shipwreck, you will rise through the ranks as a pirate on the high seas, gathering infamy, loot and more as you sail across the crystal blue waters.
Skull and Bones has been delayed numerous times, the game was originally slated to arrive in 2019 but was delayed until 2020 and… Well… COVID happened which pushed the games release even further. One question on players mind’s was “Is this a single player experience?” The answer. No.
While the game can be experienced entirely solo, the game itself is not. You will no doubt encounter players in various hubs around the map and as stated in the trailer, if your ship goes down, other players can steal your cargo. The game seems to have little in common with it’s original inspiration Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag aside from the theme of piracy. Now that may simply be my thoughts on the matter, but from this gameplay overview, it seems very different then perhaps many players had originally intended for Skull and Bones.
Skull and Bones is available for pre-order right now and arrives later this year on November 8th on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC and Stadia. Here at GamesCreed, we don’t just cover pesky pirates. We cover everything gaming. From the latest news to stellar reviews, GamesCreed has you covered.
