The team who is responsible for the Silent Hill 2 Remake is not happy with how the trailer turned out.
Capcom has made a great comeback by releasing good-quality remakes of their widely-known cinematic franchise, Resident Evil. With each single remake, Capcom gained more and more respect thanks to their enthusiastic approach to their beloved titles and cared about how people would react to their childhood games reimagined. Following Capcom, Konami also revealed their own remakes, first starting with Silent Hill 2 Remake.
We have to remind you that Silent Hill 2 was quite a big deal back then, so seeing it appear again with a full-on remake does pick up a high interest- and we also have to let you know it is not Capcom who’s handling the remake, but Konami is the one who’s responsible on releasing the title. Team Bloober, who is currently tasked with remaking the project is working hard, and so far from what we have seen from the one trailer, it does seem to be promising. However, there is an elephant in the room we must point out before accepting that it was a good showcase.
Silent Hill, unlike Resident Evil, is known for its psychological approach to existence and dread of the loss of someone. The human mind is all bleak and hopeless in Silent Hill, thanks to its atmosphere and the overall mood of the situations we come across. Konami, on the other hand, had decided to showcase the Silent Hill 2 Remake with an action-packed trailer that shows nothing but the protagonist trying to fight against the hazards he comes across- and according to Team Bloober, that is completely opposite of the Silent Hill’s code.
The reason why Team Bloober is against the trailer is that despite their arranging the remake, the marketing is completely handled by Konami instead, therefore Konami deliberately chose the action shots to showcase the Silent Hill 2 Remake trailer. This is not the first time Team Bloober had some problems communicating with Konami though, as they were ready for a sneak peek of what they have done, they were denied by Konami for their request.
Team Bloober is aware of the reception it got from the trailer, and states that it is not the original spirit they were going for while creating the remake, suggesting fans expect a better outcome than the trailer once they get the game on their hands. Silent Hill 2 remake is expected to arrive this year, and we hope it does better than the Silent Hill: The Short Message, which did not receive well due to its lackluster nature.
