Today’s PlayStation 5 showcase showed us that Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 are returning with prettier graphics this year.
A few years ago, Konami confirmed that their popular titles, Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill were being remade completely. Fans were, as expected, very excited to see their classic games returning with better graphics. For Metal Gear players, receiving a good remake of the series is nothing of a big deal, as they would receive new games from time to time, however, for Silent Hill fans, things are a tad bit different. Since the series’ creation, the lack of games always made the fans wonder if Konami was missing the potential of the series.
The first three games of Silent Hill are deemed as complete art, and in fact Silent Hill 2 still has a lot of followers thanks to its intense gameplay and well-structured story, accompanied by a strong plot. Hearing the remake news must have made every Silent Hill fan happy, not to mention, a new game was also in the making from the same director as well. It has been almost two years since the announcement of remakes and fans can now expect to see the game this year.
Today, Sony showcased the games that are planned to be released on the PlayStation 5 platform. Along with some exclusive titles, both Metal Gear Solid 3 and Silent Hill 2 remake were on the list as well. For many people, there is no way Konami would actually screw up the representation of Silent Hill 2, but for Metal Gear Solid, we expect people to be completely skeptical before diving in, as Konami ultimately failed to deliver quality in the Master Collection version. Filled with spaghetti code and forgotten triggers, it scored quite low and most people felt as if it was an insult.
Although we have a confirmation of both Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3’s release on PlayStation 5, we do not know whether this year will see the release of those games on the PC platform, as PS5 and PC have different structures to work on. Still, it might be possible to see them on PC closer than one may think.
