Housemarque has unveil that they are making some significant changes for SAROS.
It seems that some players didn’t like how difficult Returnal was; while there were little bits of development, you basically had to start over every time you played. Although many players like this feature, some were dissatisfied since they felt they weren’t progressing at all.
However, developer Housemarque’s next game, SAROS, will be different in that regard. The creative director of SAROS, speaking on the PlayStation blog, said that the game’s next 2026 release would include perpetual resources and growth, making every death count.
He went on to say that each Death would bring a new planet into play but that in SAROS, you may customize your loadout with weaponry and suit upgrades that evolve over time, allowing you to confront new obstacles with greater strength each time.

So, although we anticipate the usual flow of challenging arcade action from Housemarque, it seems that those seeking a feeling of progressive reward will find it here.
Given the significance of the shift, I felt it was imperative to bring attention to this. In any case, I believe this was a feature of Returnal that made it difficult, and I believe that some players may have abandoned the game due to it, especially in light of the impending release of SAROS. In my opinion, this won’t make things a piece of cake, will it? It may not completely eliminate it, but it does help.
