No encore for the songs and bands featured in the Rock Band, unfortunately.
Rhythm games, especially ones paired with guitars, tend to draw more attention due to their unique way of offering unique gameplay As a result, people usually look forward to active rhythm games with guitars to test their skills. One of those games, Rock Band, has been actively receiving DLCs every week for the past eight years. Unfortunately, the developer posted an announcement, stating that they will stop adding the weekly song DLCs after the 25th of January.
The reason might seem odd, but the developer Harmonix will start focusing on bringing new content to Fortnite’s new rhythm mode, a Rock Band-esque mini-game that was added a few months ago, instead. Despite being for an entirely different game, players still can enjoy using their Rock Band peripherals in Fortnite for a better experience while playing. For the people who wanted to keep playing Rock Band, not everything is bad after all, thanks to Harmonix’s decisions.
Harmonix will keep the servers and DLCs up for players to grab. This means you can still experience the raw gameplay of Rock Band 4 with no fear the game of being discontinued. Initially, Rock Band 4 was released with 65 songs in the base game with more than 1500 songs separately sold as DLC, the current number of songs you can play in the game is currently more than 3000.
This number is very high considering no other game has that many songs in its library for players to enjoy playing through. The classics such as Guitar Hero and DJ Hero are only played through a modded client which lets players add custom tracks. However, Rock Band provides more authentic and serious gameplay with its more modernized gameplay while keeping the band rhythm games.
Although it is sad to see Harmonix being devoted to a mini-game in a massive multiplayer that has no business including a rhythm game, it is better than seeing them go bankrupt.
