Get back to the old-school feel of PC gaming. In Roadwarden, your imagination is a part of the features.
Many games rely heavily on visuals, and we’ve had very few text adventures that were widely viewed as positive. But Roadwarden, from Moral Anxiety Studio, seeks to change that by placing your character in an important role. As someone who watches the roads of this land, the sole lawperson willingly takes on the task of connecting supply lines between villages. They also guard travelers and merchants on their journeys to and from.
All of this starts thanks to a merchant’s guild with far-reaching hands. As the hand of this group, you are tasked with helping to extend the group’s influence and connections. Explore unknown areas, cataloging information others may not have known before. Earn your coin at a job that, while respectable, is too much for someone without any martial training.
At its heart, Roadwarden sports the story-telling medium of a text-based RPG. And while telling the story may be simple, being part of it is no walk in the park. One will be faced with many challenges. Words will carry weight and choosing the wrong ones may lead down a path from which there is no return. Take on the challenge of this text-based world as a warrior, rogue, or scholar.
Roadwarden is out now on Steam for $9.89. There is also a demo out for those who want to try it before they buy.
