Redfall will be continuing the trend of having cross-play support, similar to past Xbox first-party releases.
Players across multiple platforms will now be able to play together with their friends as developer Arkane, has given confirmation that crossplay will now be fully supported in the upcoming first-person shooter, Redfall. First announced via the official Redfall Twitter account, cross-play will be available for Xbox series X|S, Steam, Xbox Game Pass, and Epic Games Store. Arkane Studios has also confirmed that crossplay will work through either accessing the game through Xbox Game Pass or by having purchased the full game.
Crossplay has become a common feature in many first-party Xbox games that have been released recently. We’ve seen this feature being implemented in big-release titles such as Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite. The news of Redfall’s crossplay support and the addressing of difficulty scaling came about in a Q&A, through Discord with the developers of Arkane:
“Depending on the size of your party, you’ll see changes in the sorts of enemies you encounter, how strong they are compared to solo, and the frequency of elite traits,” Redfall Community Manager, Richard Stanford wrote during the “Ask Arkane Q&A” Via Discord that took place on the 21 February 2023.
Releasing on 2 May 2023, soon players will be able to join their friends, playing as four vampire hunting companions, Jacob Boyer the long-range specialist, Deviner “Dev” Crousley the cryptozoologist, Remi De La Rosa the Robotics engineer and finally Layla Ellison the biomedical engineer to adventure into the titular town of Redfall, Massachusetts to battle it out against the blood-sucking hordes of vampires. This will also have their own unique traits and enemy types that will scale with the players. Redfall will also be available on Game Pass on the release day.
