A new rating for Red Dead Redemption could be the answer to our remake prayers.
Red Dead Redemption has been a constant of the rumor mill in recent years, with dreams of a remake being offered and snatched away from fans in impossibly quick succession. However, in the summer of last year, it seemed as though the dreams of a Red Dead Redemption Remake were well and truly put to bed.
An inside source stated that Rockstar had chosen “not to proceed with the project” when talk of remastering both the original Red Dead and GTA IV was brought up. With recent remakes being immensely popular, it seems that the market is ready to open up to a potential Red Dead Redemption Remake.
On June 15th, however, it appeared that maybe these plans were not as scrapped as we once thought. Take-Two Industries entered a new rating to South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee under the title Red Dead Redemption. This is a completely different entry from that of the original 2010 Red Dead Redemption and the Game of the Year edition in 2011.
This fresh rating being added could signify the release of a future remake, or even remaster, coming soon. After the success of Red Dead Redemption 2, many hoped they would have the opportunity to experience the original game in the same high graphical quality as the prequel game. The ending portion of the game heavily features John and the ranch he lives on, which also adds to these hopes as the components already exist in Rockstars RAGE engine.
The South Korean GRAC has been responsible for many leaks in the past, recently accidentally dropping the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remaster in the same way. I’m sure most fans are hoping beyond hope that this is the good news we have been waiting for regarding the Red Dead franchise, as most have been desperate to replay John’s story in all the glory of the second game.
