With rumors flying about the Red Dead Redemption remake, it was only a matter of time before we heard something concrete. Could this be the leak we are waiting for?
Red Dead Redemption rumors have been flying in the last week, with many believing that we are mere months away from a remake announcement. This comes after years of back-and-forths, with a remake being leaked to have been in the works and suddenly a follow-up leak that stated it was removed from the table by Rockstar last year. For those out of the loop, here is the latest update on everything we know.
Last month, Take-Two Interactive submitted the Red Dead Redemption title to South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee for a rating. This was under a new rating rather than the 2010 and 2011 Game of the Year edition. It seems unlikely that a game hitting its 13th birthday would suddenly need a whole new rating. This was enough to turn many heads and set the rumor mill ablaze in recent weeks.
And it seems like we still have more evidence to support the theory that a remake is on the way this week. A notable member of the gaming community, Colin Moriarty, said on his podcast that he had “seen confirmation that [a remake] is real” from a trusted leaker. He went on to state that there is a plan for an announcement in August that will reveal the Red Dead Redemption Remake as it is due for imminent release.
The specification of a remake over a remaster will be particularly exciting for fans as the failings of the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy were thought to be a big part of the reason a Red Dead Redemption rerelease was rumored to have been scrapped in the first place. The buggy experience most players had with the trilogy, however, seemed to hardly dampen excitement for the idea of Red Dead being the next in line. These rumors of a remake will, therefore, be very well received.
With rumors of Grand Theft Auto 6 still floating and Take-Two Interactive’s showing significant profit predictions for next year, it seems that the release of GTA6 may be taking priority. There are also those in the community who are wishing for a patch for Red Dead Redemption 2 to bring it up to Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 graphics. It seems that Rockstar has a lot to offer the community at the moment, and nearly any announcement from them would be very well received.
