Insomniac is teasing content from Uncharted, Horizon Forbidden West, and Sunset Overdrive in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
Insomniac Games prodded many hybrids with PlayStation Studios games, including Sunset Overdrive, Uncharted 4, Horizon Forbidden West, and Sly Cooper, and now we know why.
Late Monday evening, Insomniac began posting pictures proposing Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was getting over with the above games. Naughty Dog, Guerrilla Games, and Sucker Punch Productions each statement tweeted Insomniac’s trickeries and added minimal in-jokes flagging that they were in on the good times.
At that point, as speculations kept on surfacing, going from a Sunset Overdrive PlayStation port to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale 2, Insomniac uncovered what the fight was all about.
Clearly, the production was developing to uncover a “superweapon” in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The weapon is known as the RYNO 8, and Insomniac says it’s equipped to bring back stuff from other PlayStation games by opening up breaks associating the two universes.
It isn’t clear yet how these articles can be utilized in the game; however, a few models appear to incorporate a Jeep-like vehicle from Uncharted 4 and, rather unnervingly, a Thunderjaw from Horizon Zero Dawn/Horizon Forbidden West.
While it’s currently certain that Insomniac Games was basically building up another weapon, there’s as yet a decent chance we’ll see Sunset Overdrive coming to PlayStation. The game’s true Twitter account woke up from a two-year sleep to partake in Insomniac’s mission.
Although it was dispatched as a Microsoft selective back in 2014, Insomniac has since been obtained by PlayStation Studios, so nothing is preventing it from coming to PS4 and PS5.
With respect to a spin-off of 2012’s PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, we haven’t heard anything about that for some time. However, that doesn’t mean it will not occur. Back in 2019, we wrote about gossip recommending that simply a particular game was in reality in progress for PS5.
Without anything official from PlayStation, we’ll simply need to sit back and watch.
