This new Rainbow Six Siege season adds a great deal of quality content.
The next season of Rainbow Six Siege is coming December 6th with both a new map and operator coming to Ubisoft’s tactical first person shooter. Not only this, but the coming season is also adding a new way to progress through the battle pass and will also include various speed and armour changes for many of the games operators adjusting much of the gameplay loop for the title.
These details were revealed in a video on the official Rainbow Six Siege YouTube channel showing of the new season:
Starting off, we have the brand new operator code named Solis. This new operator seems to be an interesting new addition with her gadget the SPEC-IO Electro Sensor acts as an intel gatherer and can highlight any of the technology that enemy players utilise, including highlighting any drones and the drone users phone in the process.
The operator is a 2 speed and 2 armour (essentially medium everything, for players in the unknown) that is equipped with the P90 submachine gun or an ITA 12L shotgun as her primary, with an SMG-11 as her secondary meaning that players may be able to finally use that shotgun. In addition to this, Solis’ ‘generic gadget’ can be either a bulletproof camera or impact grenades.
In addition to this the new season adds a brand new map called Nighthaven Labs, a massive map with two narrow staircases and various paths that are meant to serve “creative strategies” during the season the map is unable to be banned, essentially forcing players to have to explore the new map as opposed to ignoring it as if often to do in Rainbow Six Siege.
Moreover, the season also sees the arrival of cross play on Rainbow Six Siege between PlayStation and Xbox users widening the playing pool significantly. Cross-progression will also be available for players who must simply log into their accounts on Rainbow Six Siege and simply pick up where they left off.
This new season also sees the arrival of a new upgraded battle pass and the ranked 2.0 system. The battle pass system sees players able to ‘choose their direction’ and essentially claim their preferred aspects of the battle pass first as opposed to waiting a significant period before getting a particular skin that players were hoping for.
Lastly, as mentioned previously, many of the known operators in the game are being sped up and slowed down. In terms of speeding up: Sens, Dokkaebi and Zero are being pushed to three speeds, while Echo is becoming a two speed. In terms of slowing down is where the list is significantly longer and we can see the methodical direction that Ubisoft wants this game to go in. In terms of operators slowing down: Ela is being made a two speed with; Sledge, Aruni, Mute, Thatcher, Zofia, Osa and Melusi all being turned into one speeds with three armour.
