With a revamped Sanhok map, the Season 8 update for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is officially live on Stadia and consoles.
The 8.1 update for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is officially live on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia after more than a week being active in a Public Test Server to look for bugs and preview new features. The big draw for Season 8 in the battle royale is a remastered version of PUBG’s Sanhok map, including more balanced gameplay, updated visuals, and new landmark layouts.
A new feature has also been added into the game, which has clear or overcast weather types as well as sunrise and sunset variants to coincide with the revamped map. PUBG players can find up to eight loot trucks in Sanhok per match that drop gear when destroyed, but cause a lot of damage if they hit anyone. The update also comes with gameplay updates like parachute following for teams, bug fixes, quality of life updates such as an added Irish language and changed ranked rulesets. Season 8’s patch notes are long and involved, which makes them worth a perusal for any of PUBG’s 70 million players worldwide. The development team behind PUBG also has plans in place for “interesting” additions coming in Season 9 though this update only just released. It will likely be some time before that comes around.
If players are interested in diversifying things, they can also take on exclusive content like the Livik map in the meantime. PlayerUnknown’s Battleground is available for mobile devices, PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
