Project MOAT, Peter Molyneux’s next game, is still in the works and will have its story in the Fable Universe.
Peter Molyneux, the brain behind franchises like Black & White and the Fable series, is preparing to publish his next game soon. Despite working at excellent games, Peter Molyneux is notorious as one of the developers who over-promise their upcoming titles. One of the incidents he is known for is a game he developed that included heavy usage of AI. Of course, things turned south very quickly as the proposed game mechanics could be processed by neither Xbox nor the Kinect.
Mirroring back to early 2010, he has made a lot of promises that would not sound true at all. Nowadays, he is working on a new game with a project name called MOAT. We are not sure about what it exactly is about, but we are sure about him not overhyping his games anymore. While the game is still in its first few steps, Peter Molyneux gave a little information about what to expect from Project MOAT.
The game will be set in Fable’s own fictional world called Albion, so by the looks of it, we are looking at another action RPG title from him. He might have said the story would be set in Albion, but it could not be directly tied to the events that occurred in any Fable game, so it could be a spin-off game.
Along with the information about where Project MOAT is set, Peter Molyneux announced a blog in which he will share every single development that the game will go through. While it all looks promising, there are some other stuff to consider, such as a tie-in with the Fable franchise. Microsoft currently owns the trademark to Fable, so it is a good question how he will sort out the connection between the two titles.
Fable is certainly not a franchise that Microsoft forgot about, back in 2018, there was an announcement of the reboot of Fable. When people thought it was long gone, earlier this year, a trailer was published for the upcoming reboot being worked on. It is now everyone’s guess about what will happen to Project MOAT when it gets finished.
