Fixes for both Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are on their way.
The Pokémon company has announced that patches for both Scarlet and Violet are coming soon. These patches are meant to fix the multiple issues that players of the games have been experiencing since launch as well as the return of ranked battles.
When Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were released on 18 November 2022, the games featured multiple graphical and performance issues ranging from distorted character models to lag spikes and memory issues. Fans of the series were understandably upset by this, considering that Pokémon is one of the biggest media franchises in the world. However, the developers have acknowledged both games’ issues and have assured fans that their complaints were being heard: “We are aware that players may encounter issues that affect the games’ performance. Our goal is always to give players a positive experience with our games, and we apologize for the inconvenience.”
The patch notes also mention that alongside all the changes and fixes that have been made to both Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, that Season 1 of Ranked Battles for Generation 9 has kicked off. This feature allows players to go head-to-head with one another through the Battle Stadium. While this new feature is greatly appreciated by longtime fans of the series, its implementation has brought on its own set of issues, that hopefully the developer, Game Freak, will soon address in the coming months.
Despite the multiple issues that can be found within both Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, these issues haven’t had much of a negative impact on both games’ sales. As of 24 November 2022, over 10 million copies have reportedly been sold worldwide and the games currently hold the highest number of pre-orders in the series. However, fans have expressed their dissatisfaction with how the 9th Generation of Pokémon has been handled. Even a month after their launch, there are still numerous angry posts on the Pokémon subreddit of people pointing out the glaring issues found in both games. Hopefully, with future patches, most of these issues will be addressed.
