The development studio is preparing to employ the same tactic they did about ten years ago, now it is Payday 3’s turn.
There is no doubt that Payday 3 is trying to stand up on its own feet and showcase that it’s worthy of a shot. However, due to some problems that keep occurring, such as matchmaking and server issues, Starbreeze still hasn’t been able to get the amounts of players they were aiming for. Sure, the graphics and new engine provide better visuals and gameplay, however, the progression and lack of secure servers still push people to play the previous title instead.
Around 2013, when Payday 2 came out, Starbreeze introduced a very familiar heist and campaign from the first game, Payday: The Heist. People liked more variety and return of the classics and it was positively received by the community and players. Now that Payday 3 is out, Starbreeze is actually bringing classic heists from Payday 2 to Payday 3. Do not get too excited though, as they kept the number of the campaigns to only two heists and dubbed them as “Legacy Heists”. We could see other older heists returning, but it is too early to speak about that right now.
Not only the campaigns are included but we could see more being added alongside the maps. These are new animations, new perks, new masks, new music to vibe to, and around two hundred or so bug fixes related to the gameplay and overall stability of the servers. The actual release date is not set yet, but it is expected to drop in late November. In Starbreeze’s own words, these old heists will be released with a different tone and improved gameplay, our guess is that they have been working on importing maps and settling in for the Payday 3’s engine since its launch.
Talking about the launch, we know how Payday 3 was launched. The first week of the game was a complete nightmare with never-ending server issues. The progression system was also mocked at, so far that Starbreeze is currently planning to change the whole system of leveling up and awards, similar to what we had in both Payday: The Heist and Payday 2. It is at least great to see them, listening to the community’s feedback instead of insisting on trying to be different.
