The decision came out of nowhere and it’s final, Payday 3 won’t have Denuvo with it.
There is one thing that almost all PC gamers agree on: The addition of Denuvo is always going to hurt the game, no matter in which aspect. While the aim of Denuvo is to protect the game from being pirated and distributed without the permission of the publisher, it ends up damaging the software and consumers even more.
To explain in another way, Denuvo is software that protects the game from being pirated, but in the end, it causes issues on the user’s end. These could be the slowdown because of the protection, Denuvo’s decision to reach your personal information, or get your credentials in terms of accounts and login details.
One of the anticipated titles in the upcoming games list, Payday 3, also had Denuvo included on the release day as well. However, in a recent stream of the Starbreeze Studios, the developers cut the chase and directly mentioned something that gave relief to the people who were waiting for Payday 3’s release. Denuvo protection in Payday 3 is no more and players can expect to have improved performance while playing the game. This certainly boosted the morale and interest of players who are patiently waiting for Payday 3.
The next installment of the Payday series will be released for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Keep in mind that the removal of Denuvo only affects the PC players. The majority of piracy cases happen through the PC platform so console players are expected to have a good performance in their games nevertheless because Denuvo does not exist in their copies.
It is just odd that the plan to remove Denuvo came a week before the release date, which does raise an eyebrow at how this sudden decision was chosen. No matter, we shall wait and see how Payday 3 is going to perform in terms of number once it gets released on the 21st of September.
