The issues have plagued Overwatch 2 since the games’ launch this past week.
Overwatch 2 has been out for less than a week and while many who have played the game have complimented some aspects of the title, one thing that has universally been reported is that the game has severe server issues. Long queue times, crashes and more have infected what should have been a grand opening for this game and no doubt what Blizzard had hoped for.
The official Overwatch twitter made a post yesterday:
This update has fixed various aspects of the title, however, the developers of Overwatch 2 have warned that players that they should “still expect to see queues”. In an update from community manager Jodie Grace, many aspects of Overwatch 2 were highlighted either for things they had improved, or were working on improving.
The most recent patch has patched a server that has served a key role in the login process and they are working on another update that should reduce the number of disconnects people are encountering in the game. In addition to this, they are working on ‘nodes’ in the player database that has been overloaded, which then “cascades and causes a backup in the login system, which eventually leads to some people being dropped out of queues or being unable to log in at all.”
Lastly, one issue that has plagued many players is the queuing issue. Now from this update we know that the developers of Overwatch 2 have ‘simplified’ the queuing process meaning that players should be only experience one queue prior to entering the game as opposed to queue jumping and being sent around to different queues. The queue’s players have been experiencing are upwards of 4,000 players long and hopefully the following updates can work on allowing players to actually get into games.
There are many more issues to highlight here and you can check out all of these issues in this statement from the community manager.
