Nintendo is hoping to surpass PlayStation 2’s unit sales record within the next few years with Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo Switch has reportedly sold over 150 million copies. Sony may not be too thrilled with this, considering how close this console is to surpassing the PlayStation 2 sale.
Nintendo said that the Switch console has sold more than 150 million units, reaching a noteworthy new sales milestone, according to WCCF Tech today. The Japanese company claims that 150.86 million units of the hybrid handheld slash home console had been sold by December 31st, 2024.
Yes, we are aware that not too long ago, Sony unpredictably increased the number of PlayStation 2s sold by 5 million, bringing the total to 160 million. Because of this, it remains at the top, albeit at the rate things are going, it looks like the Switch will soon overtake the PlayStation 2.
The only thing that could stop it is the Nintendo Switch 2. Sales of the Switch could be severely reduced to the point where they only receive 155 million devices, or they could completely stop when the Nintendo Switch 2 is released.
They still have to sell about 10 million Nintendo Switch units, though. If they decide to do so, we’ll assume that the price cut will be the deciding factor.
