An upcoming Terror at Oakheart takes inspiration from classic slasher movies that were made in the 80s and 90s.
An upcoming Steam horror game is set to be released on February 27 and is titled Terror at Oakheart, developed by Tainted Pact and to be published by Assemble Entertainment, the game will have players uncovering the truth and fight to survive in a unique pixel-based game filled with gruesome gore and fearful frights.
Steam features a huge number of horror games for PC gamers to check out, ranging from classic genres to the latest big-name horrors. There are plenty of new Steam horrors to look forward to in the near future, a perfect example of this is the PlayStation-exclusive horror game Until Dawn, alongside Dead by Daylight, taking inspiration from classic slasher films and sees a group of friends get slowly picked off in different gruesome fashions, unless players succeed at getting them out in one piece.
While waiting for more horrors to grace the Steam libraries, PC gamers may want to keep an eye out for an up-and-coming horror game that also takes inspiration from slasher films, Terror at Oakheart, which is set to release on Steam on February 27.Terror at Oakheart gives players the chance to explore the town of Oakheart while it is terrorized by a serial killer named Teddy, who is being manipulated by a beast based in the genre of “Lovecraftian beasts”, a popular yet obscure genre for sure with not many games dipping theirs toes into H.P. Lovecraft’s genre of horror.
The game’s goal of the game is to “investigate and unmask” Teddy, with players having a chance to play as a variety of characters that can either survive the ordeal or be brutally murdered by the killer Teddy.
Terror at Oakheart is a 2D side-scroller, which should also help with its 80s to 90s vibes, the new trailer released for the game shows various characters investigating the town, hiding from the killer, and unfortunately in some cases, being murdered by Teddy the killer. With a range of violence and death, while also even being fed to a Lovecraftian monster that Teddy serves, the game’s 2D side-scroller aspects may not be a new concept.
However, this may seem to be a roadblock for some gamers. Now, for those who favor the 2D side-scroller genre of games, this is definitely a game worth checking out with some classic horror influence gore and fearful frights, players might have an enjoyable time getting to the bottom of the game’s mysteries along with the lovecraftian themes.
