Respawn Entertainment officially announced a partnership with Bit Reactor – to create a new Star Wars strategy game.
In 2022, Respawn Entertainment officially announced a partnership with Bit Reactor – an independent studio consisting of some former XCOM veterans – to create a new Star Wars strategy game. Since then, there hasn’t been much information from the game, but as the recent leaks suggested, all that is going to change sooner rather than later. As it turns out, Bit Reactor has been working on this game for several years, with some support from Respawn Entertainment.
The developers are now ready to show it off at the Bit Reactor Developer session during the Star Wars Celebration, which will feature Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. On the official Star Wars Celebration website, you can see who will be on the panel, including Aaron Contreras, who was the narrative director for both Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor. He left Respawn to concentrate on this game as the narrative and cinematic director.
We also have Greg Forsch, the game’s creative director and the founder of Bit Reactor. Jim Vasella, a producer at Respawn, and two representatives from Lucasfilm join the panel. As we have seen in prior festivities for Jedi Fallen Order and Battlefront 2, expect this panel to focus largely on the game’s story.
We don’t know if this game will be released this year. We hope it will, but there is no indication at this time. Perhaps it will be released early next year or something similar. It’s also probable that they won’t give us a firm release date because GTA 6 is approaching, and every game wants to avoid that if it comes out this year or is postponed until next year. It would be ideal to have a late 2025 release date, considering there are currently no Star Wars games coming out this year.
They should take their time because they are comparatively new to such a big franchise. On April 19, we’ll get our first glimpse at the game, described as a turn-based tactics game.
