Hi-Rez Studios and Titan Forge Games have dropped the first patch notes of both 2022 and Season 9 for its popular MOBA, SMITE. With the SMITE World Championships on the horizon, the excitement for players only continues to rise with the release of these patch notes, detailing some of the highly anticipated features that will be starting Season 9 out strong.
As with all patch notes, there are a slew of buffs to items and gods, bug fixes, and audio and visual updates. Of importance are the buffs coming to Atlas, who has been noted to be performing rather poorly since his release. However, the real excitement lies with some of the more drastic changes and skin reveals.
Notable among the new skins, Charybdis is receiving her first formal skin, and Geb has been revealed as the holder of the Season 9 Ranked Skin Reward. In addition, Apollo, a god available since the game’s Open Beta, is receiving a remodel.
The long-awaited ‘Slash’ game mode, a combination of SMITE’s soon-to-be-defunct Clash and Siege modes, has also been announced for Season 9, and the minimap has been revealed as well.
The final major change involves the game’s relics system, as well as a few commonly built items. Relics will be given a branching system, where they can ultimately be built into one of two paths. Items proper will be receiving a ‘Glyph’ system, where certain items will have additional versions of themselves that can be purchased, giving an additional passive bonus to the player.
The release of these patch notes serves to further the excitement that we will be seeing this month. With the SMITE World Championships at the beginning of the month and Season 9 slotted near the end, Hi-Rez and Titan Forge are starting 2022 out strong, and we can only wait and see what they have in store for us this year.
